Eden Project
The Eden Project is open all year round, and is visited by nearly 2 million people each year, with as many as 14,000 visitors per day during the season.
The site has two main restaurants, plus a coffee bar and various satellite outlets, with plans to develop further catering outlets in line with other developments.
The EPOS and MIS systems were not designed for the growth in the catering business that has been achieved since the site opened in March 2001, and pre-date the development of a Central Production Kitchen, so do not include systems for stock control and management reports.
The Russell Partnership was commissioned by the Destination Director to review the Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) and Management Information Systems (MIS) for The Eden Project, Bodelva, near St Austell in Cornwall.
The Partnership reviewed existing proposals and created a number of recommendations to ensure maximum benefits are secured for the catering operations.
In conjunction with Eden Project Finance and Accounts department, we have advised on how to produce management reports through the use of third party software such as Crystal Reports, and also shown how to provide menu costs for the existing accounting system, to improve stock control and stock ordering systems, through the introduction of recipe software such as StarChef.
