Lee Valley White Water Centre

This award-winning artificial white-water canoe course was a major multi-disciplinary engineering project and hosted the Canoe Slalom competition during the London 2012 Olympics Games. The site accommodated 12,000 spectators in temporary stands, was designed with sustainability in mind and has become a major leisure attraction in Hertfordshire.

Russell Partnership Collection were appointed to work alongside the development team at Lee Valley to conduct an assessment of venue needs and legacy usage for the centre and a market and competitive appraisal for the new build venue, including projections of event days and normal usage days, financial viability analysis and business plan. Our approach was to assess the business potential of the operation, which resulted in some changes to the operational plan, work with the developer to generate a strategy to facilitate the integration of the sport facilities, with entertainment and events and promoted greater access for local communities.
