James is an experienced hospitality practitioner and consultant, with over 20 years’ experience in the industry. His background has predominantly been within food and beverage and he has worked for and with a variety of hotels, restaurants, bars and pubs. Throughout his earlier management career, which included time with Intercontinental Hotels Group and Tragus Restaurants, James was responsible for multiple-site management, new business openings and managing significant organisational change.
James established his own consultancy business several years ago and has worked with a variety of independent and national hospitality, education and care organisations to review their operations and processes; successfully managing projects and supporting business improvements across a range of functions. This includes business analysis and development; as well as developing core strategy, policies and procedures, people and quality processes.
Qualified to master’s level in Organisation Development and Consultancy, James is currently furthering his education through studying a part-time PhD exploring the factors that influence success and failure in new restaurants. James is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and the Higher Education Academy, and is an experienced university lecturer, having recently held the post of senior lecturer in hospitality management at Sheffield Hallam University.
In his capacity as Head of Training Development for Russell Partnership Collection, James will support both the RPC consulting arm and RPT training arm, as well as supporting key projects across the business.
