James is an experienced hospitality practitioner and consultant, with over 20 years’ experience in the industry. His background has predominantly been within food and beverage and he has worked for and with a variety of hotels, restaurants, bars and pubs.
Prior to joining Russell Partnership James established his own consultancy business several years ago and has worked with a variety of independent and national hospitality, education and care organisations to review their operations and processes; successfully managing projects and supporting business improvements across a range of functions. This included business analysis and development; as well as developing core strategy, policies and procedures, people and quality processes.
Qualified to master’s level in Organisation Development and Consultancy, James is currently furthering his education through studying a part-time PhD exploring the factors that influence success and failure in new restaurants. James is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and the Higher Education Academy, and is an experienced university lecturer, having held the post of senior lecturer in hospitality management at Sheffield Hallam University.
