University of Sussex

Russell Partnership Consulting was commissioned to undertake a commercial strategy of the catering and conference operations for the University of Sussex. The key desired outcomes were a consolidation of the campus catering portfolio, team restructuring, commercial modelling and to support the £10m development and design of the central catering hub and outlying campus food and beverage portfolio. The University have been working with the Russell Partnership Collection for over 10 years and the driver for this project was to meet the overarching strategy of “being the University of choice”, of which enhanced student and customer services, and food was recognised as a key components.

Russell Partnership Consulting was also appointed by the University of Sussex to assist in developing a long-term catering strategy and selecting a suitable catering delivery partner.  The Partnership’s knowledge of the marketplace and expertise in leading commercial tendering processes and creating effective food strategies were essential in meeting the University’s objectives.

The second phase was to create and implement an activation plan in partnership with the University of Sussex team. Key support from Russell Partnership Consulting included mobilisation of the project to deliver a smooth transition, building an effective team, developing a conference and events strategy, and implementing KPIs to ensure success and issues could be addressed promptly.
