Southwark Cathedral

In the heart of a burgeoning business community, Southwark Cathedral’s parish is small. However, the Cathedral is used by many thousands of people each year and is the setting for a wide variety of services and other events.

Southwark Cathedral Enterprises Ltd manages the Cathedral’s commercial activities, including catering, the profits of which support the cost of the Cathedral’s ministry and outreach. Whilst there is a need to ensure the optimisation of catering revenue from visitor catering, hospitality and conference business, it is essential that the catering partner’s style and the extent of catering is flexible and sympathetic with the culture and needs of the organisation.

Russell Partnership Consulting worked with Southwark Cathedral, supporting in the development of the retail and catering operations along with reviewing future opportunities and the potential for the site. This included developing a business model, identification of additional opportunities and undertaking a full tendering exercise for the Cathedral.

To ensure that we received maximum interest from appropriate catering organisations, was achieved a prospectus detailing the background, and opportunity, and requesting specific information from interested parties.
